Bishop receives honorary degree

Bishop Victoria Matthews received a Doctor of Divinity degree (honoris causa) from Trinity College, Toronto at is convocation ceremony in May. The honour recognized her pioneering leadership in the Anglican Church of Canada and the wider Anglican Communion. In 1994, she became the first female bishop in Canada and the fifth in the world when she was elected a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Toronto. She went on to be the Bishop of Edmonton and the Bishop of Christchurch (New Zealand).
