The Rev. Canon Dr. Stephen Fields, Dean Stephen Hance and the Rev. Lynn Braye bless pets at the annual Blessing of Animals service on the west lawn of St. James Cathedral on Oct. 5. The service is often held in churches on or near the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of pets and animals.
